Pisces
Watery Pisces is the last sign of the spiraling cycle of the zodiac. Ruled by transcendental Neptune, Pisces is known for its mystical nature. The Neptunian relationship to the ego is at the crux of understanding this sign. Neptune is the alchemical universal solvent. What is being dissolved is the boundary between the separate individual self and the collective consciousness. Pisces forever maintains a toehold on the All One state of the mystics.
The Big Picture
From our perspective on Earth, Venus is never very far from the Sun. She changes signs about twelve times a year. As March opens, Venus begins her transit of Aquarius. This year’s transit of Venus is fairly quick, completing the sign of Aquarius and entering Pisces on March 27th. Venus was in the sign of Capricorn during February.
Venus is about how we do our relationships; specifically, how we attract the people we want into our lives. This planet is also associated with our sense of aesthetics, our self-love, and our personal pleasures. Sometimes, a transit of Venus can indicate an increase of financial income.
In Capricorn, Venus is cautious and often conservative. There can be a fear of leaping into romance too soon with the resultant broken heart. The Aquarian Venus can be impulsive and eager to try something new or unusual. There is a willingness to deviate from the standard norm in order to find new exciting pleasures, not only in romance, but in all matters of self pleasuring. Creating or acquiring unusual art, or going on a sudden adventure road trip are good examples of the action of Venus in Aquarius. The basic rule is, where Venus goes, romance and beautiful pleasures follow. We may occasionally be blessed with both love and money. Take care, however, for the effects of an Aquarian Venus may not hold up to the tests of time. We may find our loved ones needing more freedom or increased personal space.
The first week or so of March may test some relationships. Those that are stale or outworn may come to a successful conclusion. It could be an exciting time, with new flirtations on the breeze and new inspirations in art.
The New Moon turns on the 4th in the 14th degree of Pisces at 3:46 pm EST. Here begins a dreamy, imaginative cycle with a tendency toward a poetic mystical theme. A conjunction to Mercury indicates the rational mind may wander off into daydreams. The opposition of Jupiter to Saturn may result in some delays as we try to move our daily plans forward. There could be some confusion as to whether to expand or to consolidate our territory.
I think the most significant astrological event this month is the introduction of the planet Uranus to the fiery, bold sign of Aries. This big slow mover last entered Aries 84 years ago, capping off the last few years of the Roaring Twenties and affecting changes in global economics and politics the world over. The transits of Venus and other inner planets usually affect us on a personal level, while Uranus correlates to periods of social upheaval and rapid advances in technology. The paradigm changes.
Uranus is the antithesis to the energy of the planet Saturn. Saturn builds rigid social structures. Uranus breaks them down. Saturn seeks to maintain the status quo, often by curtailing new technologies in order to channel power and wealth into the hands of a privileged few. Uranus exults in new technological advances and incites economic instability and revolution. Any planet in Aries can be brash and impulsive; explosive at times. Things are going to heat up on a global scale (pun intended) and we will indeed be living in interesting times. Uranus will be in Aries for several years.
As Uranus moves through Aries it will be working at odds with the transit of Pluto through the Saturn ruled sign of Capricorn. Pluto entered Saturn’s domain about three years ago. Many intelligent and politically savvy people have commented on the increasing imbalance of global power and wealth, resulting in plutocratic political and economic systems. It is probable that more people will openly align with splinter groups in opposition to what they perceive as social inequality. Uranus is the driving spark behind rapid, often uncomfortable, social change. It is the very essence and epitome of revolution, acting suddenly, spasmodically, sometimes dangerously, and usually favoring the underdog.
On the brighter side, there will be sudden flashes of “enlightenment” as we find ourselves feeling the oneness and grand harmony of the natural world. The falling leaf and the flying crow and the soft breeze will all take on a sense of grace. These peak experiences are rarely anticipated and leave us with a peace that surpasses understanding.
New environmental friendly technologies are liable to advance in sudden spurts. There will be major changes in the World Wide Web and computer science. Intuitive impulses will occur, leading us to embrace the unknown and thereby to enrich us. This is a time to follow your hunches as synchronistic events spark around each corner.
The increasing desire to improve the human condition in general could lead to active peace movements pressuring political parties to set aside their grudges and forge their swords into plowshares.
Uranus rules the Earth’s magnetic ion field. Some strong solar flare activity may interrupt electric grids and communications.
The Full Moon shines forth at 2:10 pm EDT on march 19th. The Moon will rise beautifully red and huge opposite the setting Sun. Luna occupies the last degree of Virgo and Sol the final degree of Pisces with a tight conjunction to Uranus. Sun Uranus Lunations are full of sparkling synchronistic magic. Sometimes sudden changes happen and we feel as if the rug has been pulled out from under our feet. This is the Uranian force for growth and change leading into strange new landscapes. Rely on the grace of your inner self to find the way.
The Spring Equinox happens at 7:21 pm EST on March 20th as the Sun passes into Aries. The days and nights are of about equal length now and the daylight periods will be increasing. This is a good time to hook up with some of your local Earth centered religion friends and celebrate the increasing warmth of life and light.
The period between March 24th and the 28th shows an active Venus looking for some love and joy. It will be too wet to plow so we may as well dance the spiral circle of our sensuous creature hood. Around and around and back again the ever-changing seasons spin us onward. Fare well, fellow travelers.
Five positive key words are: sympathetic, compassionate, unassuming, imaginative, and self-sacrificing.
